For a violonist, there are no other musical pieces that demand more technicality and offer more opportunities like Paganini’s compositions. Although he is only 18, Mircea Dumitrescu doesn’t hesitate to play Paganini, with the confidence earned through the many prices won in exigent Romanian and European contests and festivals. The Little Paganini, as he was named by the Romanian media, is one of the most gifted young musicians from Romania, a country where the violin is an acknowledged instrument and where the classical musical environment is very competitive. Beside him performs pianist and organist Olga Babadjan, a frequent presence on the Romanian and European stages. Together, they give a recital with pieces of Bach, Mozart, Brahms and Paganini, in which virtuosity and sensibility combine flawlessly, for the perfect delight of the audience.
