Örenäs Castle

Örenäs castle, SwedenOne of the youngest and most picturesque little castles (built in German baroque style) in Scania is Örenäs, just 5 km from Landskrona centre.

The building as it looks today was raised in 1914-1918. It’s now a hotel and conference centre with a public restaurant. The surrounding park and environment out here are amazing. The green bows gently down to the surging waves of Öresund and the view are magnificent.

View over Ven, Sweden

During World War II, Danish and Estonian refugees were hosted here, and on the cellar vault there are still theirs paintings maintained, as reminder of their gratitude and presence.

Just a short walk away towards the sea, there is a picturesque fishing village Ålabodarna, a birthplace of one of Scania’s most honourable poets and writers Gabriel Jönsson.
